SKIN TAG REMOVAL

WHAT IS A SKIN TAG?

Skin tags, also known as achrochordons, are soft, skin-colored growths on the skin. They hang from the surface of the skin on thin pieces of tissue called stalks. Skin tags can grow on any part of the body. They are not any form of skin cancer, nor do they have the potential to become skin cancer. Skin tags are most commonly found on men and women aged 60 or older, on women after pregnancy and people have a genentic preponderance to develop them.

HOW IS IT REMOVED?

Removal procedures include freezing or lancing, but may also be removed by laser.

DOES IT HURT TO HAVE A SKIN TAG REMOVED?

Removal of skin tags is minimally painful. Some patients report some after-procedure sensitivity. If you experience discomfort after the laser treatment, you can take an over-the-counter pain reliever. Any slight marks or sensitivities usually disappear in a few days. There is minimal, if any, scarring after skin tag removal.

IS IT SAFE TO REMOVE A SKIN TAG?

Yes. Once a dermatologist has examined and concluded that the skin tag is not a cancerous growth, it can be removed.
